Adele

AdeleAdele Mara (April 28, 1923 - May 7, 2010 American) was an American performer and actress. She appeared in films in the 1940s and 1950s[2] in addition to on television during the 1950s and 1960s. Adele St. Mara was her professional name. She got an endorsement from Columbia Pictures [citation needed]. She had experience in comedy shorts and "B" feature films in the studio. Soon, this was shortened to Adele Mara. One of her first roles was as a receptionist for the Three Stooges film I Can Hardly Wait. Mara as well as Leslie Brooks played the sisters of Rita Hayworth's character the Fred Astaire film You Were Never Lovelier. Brooks is the female lead character in Alias Boston Blackie (1942) in which she plays the sister of a wrongly accused and freed convict. When her Columbia contract ran out the studio moved her to Republic Pictures, where she was a regular on the studio's westerns and outdoor adventure. [citation needed] She appeared in The Vampire's Ghost, Wake of the Red Witch starring John Wayne, Angel in Exile (leading lady), Sands of Iwo Jima with John Wayne in which she was John Agar's love-interest, California Passage (leading lady) and Don Siegel's Count the Hours (supporting role).
